Sophie Ellis-Bextor’s kids are surprise fans of the singer’s iconic Instagram Live kitchen discos.
The Bittersweet hitmaker has been holding regular live stream parties on the site, in which she sings and dances around in her kitchen, dressed head-to-toe in sequins, for the pleasure of fans and gay men everywhere.
Speaking on Lorraine on Tuesday, Sophie reflected on how the shows have been a surprise hit – particularly with her kids!
“It’s their mad mum singing into her phone every week,” she laughed. “Everything is very heavy at the moment. People want something a bit silly and fun, all the kids are getting into it. They know it’s not forever.”
Sophie shares sons Sonny, 16, Kit, 11, Ray, 7, Jesse, 4, and one-year-old Mickey with The Feeling star Richard Jones.
During the chat, she also revealed she hasn’t seen her mum, TV presenter Janet Ellis, and stepdad John, who is battling cancer, in weeks, despite only living 10 minutes away from each other, as they want to protect him from coronavirus.
“Our distancing started a few weeks before the government advised it,” she said. “It’s weird not having the people around you’d usually have. I’ve seen my mother at a distance about three times, I can’t wait to go back to my regular family life.”
