Sophie Ellis-Bextor is back at No. 2 on the UK Singles Chart with Murder On The Dancefloor – matching the 2001 classic’s previous peak.
Having re-entered the Top 10 last week, the track continued to climb and in Friday’s (January 12) update finished in second place, behind Noah Kahan’s Stick Season.
It comes as the song doubled its highest-ever streaming week in the UK to date, notching up 4.7 million streams over the past seven days.
Those numbers only look set to increase after Sophie released a new digital single, featuring the track, original B-side Never Let Me Down, and a selection of remixes from the era.
The pop anthem has become a global hit after featuring in the final scene of ‘Saltburn’, in which actor Barry Keoghan is seen dancing in the nude to the song.
And Sophie’s already working on new music, according to her husband Richard Jones, who responded to a fan’s calls on X to “come back with disco dance”.
He teased: “Don’t you worry. Sophie’s been talking about this way before what’s happening with Murder.. weeks before Saltburn we’ve already had CD [Cathy Dennis] and RX [Richard X] in our house.
“Bangers are incoming!”
Dennis co-wrote Sophie’s 2007 single Catch You, while Richard collaborated with her on the 2011 single Starlight.
