Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will release their new album ‘Council Skies’ this summer.

The former Oasis frontman’s fourth solo LP sees the musician “reclaiming his past and paying homage to his Mancunian roots,” according to a press release.

Described as “his most varied and accomplished solo record to date,” the album is said to be “framed by confidence, risk-taking, surefooted creative freedom, and great emotional depth”.

It’s going back to the beginning. Daydreaming, looking up at the sky and wondering about what life could be… that’s as true to me now as it was in the early ‘90s. NG

The hitmaker shares: “It’s going back to the beginning. Daydreaming, looking up at the sky and wondering about what life could be… that’s as true to me now as it was in the early nineties. When I was growing up in poverty and unemployment, music took me out of that.

“’Top of the Pops’ on TV transformed your Thursday night into this fantasy world, and that’s what I think music should be. I want my music to be elevating and transforming in some way.”

Crafted at Noel’s own Lone Star Sound Recording Studios in London with strings recorded at the legendary Abbey Road Studios, the album is produced by Noel with long-time collaborator Paul ‘Strangeboy’ Stacey.

Alongside performances from Johnny Marr on three tracks, including recent single Pretty Boy, a deluxe edition includes remixes by The Cure’s Robert Smith and Pet Shop Boys.

Coinciding with the album announcement, the single Easy Now has been made available across platforms. Noel Gallagher’s High Flying Birds will play live across the UK this summer.

‘Council Skies’ is out June 2 and available to pre-order now.
