Nelly Furtado is keen to collaborate with Drake on new music.
The I’m Like A Bird hitmaker returned to pop last year with her latest album, ‘7’, and in a new interview on the ‘Call Her Daddy‘ podcast Furtado named fellow Canadian Drake as her “dream collaborator” when asked by host Alex Cooper.
“I still think it would be cool to have a song with Drake, I think people would love that,” she said. “Because we’re both Canadian. Toronto lore, you know? I think it would be really good.”
Revealing the One Dance singer recently invited her to perform alongside him at an event in Toronto, the Maneater star confessed she turned down the offer because it was so last-minute.
“He asked me at 11pm to show up at 1am. I love him to death, but I was like, ‘I’m not showing up without glam’,” she laughed. “Because, of course, he’s so famous, it will be everywhere. I couldn’t make it that time, but anyways, I love him a lot.
“He’s a great guy. He really put Toronto on the map in a different kind of way and Canada in general.”
On his performance that night, she added that Drake “looked good” in a yellow tracksuit before music: “But then I’m like, ‘What would I have worn? Pink?’ Because then it would have been all videos of all yellow and you know, what colour?
“That’s what performers do, you always think about what things pop. Especially in pop music.”
