Mariah Carey has launched a celebration in support of the 25th anniversary of her album ‘Butterfly’.
The diva’s classic fifth album was originally released in 1997 and features the hit singles Honey and My All – both of which topped the Billboard Hot 100.
“#Butterfly25 is here!! Celebrating 25… minutes… since the release of my favorite and probably most personal album…Starting 9/16,” she penned in a social media post.
Alongside the announcement, Mariah shared a video montage of the releases she has planned to mark the occasion.
Included is a deluxe reissue of the LP with eight bonus tracks from the ‘Butterfly’ sessions, with the album to be issued on 2LP and 4LP gold vinyl – featuring remixes – and cassette.
The celebrations also include the music videos for Honey and The Roof (Back in Time) in 4K, a new documentary on the making of the Honey visual, classic live performances from the era, and a Butterfly-themed merch collection.
Last year, Mariah hinted at new music and told fans during an online discussion: “Oh my gosh, you guys! I’m like obsessed with what I’m doing right now. But I can’t reveal it yet. It’s exciting!
“I’m really with this music. I haven’t made [music in this way] in years. During the pandemic, I was able to rest my voice and get it back to where it needs to be. So here we are!”
