The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame’s Class of 2023 nominees have been announced, with George Michael and Kate Bush among those on the shortlist.

Missy Elliott, the White Stripes, Sheryl Crow, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, Soundgarden, the Spinners, A Tribe Called Quest, and Warren Zevon complete the fan vote ballot, with the selected recipients set to be announced in May.

“This remarkable list of Nominees reflects the diverse artists and music that the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame honors and celebrates,” said John Sykes, Chairman of the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation.

“These artists have created their own sounds that have impacted generations and influenced countless others that have followed in their footsteps.”

To be eligible for this year’s ballot, each nominee’s first single or album had to have been released in 1998 or earlier, with Missy Elliott and the White Stripes both in their first year of eligibility.

It’s also the first time Sheryl Crow, Joy Division/New Order, Cyndi Lauper, George Michael, Willie Nelson, and Warren Zevon have been nominated.

It’s the fifth nomination for Rage Against The Machine, the fourth for Kate Bush and the Spinners, and the second for Iron Maiden and A Tribe Called Quest.

Fans can vote on the ballot over on the Hall of Fame website, selecting up to five nominees daily until April 28th.

The 2023 class will be chosen by a group of over 1,000 artists, historians, and members of the music industry the Rock Hall has selected as voters. Seven acts from the ballot were inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2022.

The last Hall of Fame induction ceremony was held on November 5 at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. A venue for this year’s event has yet to be announced.
