George Michael is set to be feted at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).
The chart-topping pop icon – who passed away in 2016, aged 53 – earned four VMAs during his career, including the prestigious Video Vanguard Award back in 1989.
During the ceremony on Sunday (September 27), he’ll be saluted with a special performance from RAYE, sombr and Teddy Swims.
It comes ahead of the release of ‘George Michael: The Faith Tour’; the latest live album from the artist, which is accompanied by a concert film set to air in cinemas. The LP is due November 6 via Sony, with the movie premiering the same day.
Elsewhere at this year’s VMAs, Madonna will open the show with a performance centred around her latest, chart-topping album ‘Confessions II’, for which she’s up for a career-best 13 accolades.
