Dolly Parton’s 49th album, ‘Rockstar’, is the highest-charting of her career.
The LP – featuring an epic 30 songs, including collaborations with Paul McCartney, Debbie Harry, Stevie Nicks, Miley Cyrus and others – debuted at No.3 on the Billboard 200 charts.
“Wow, this is a big thrill!” she said in response to the news. “I owe a thank you to the fans who have always been there for me. Their support made this achievement possible.
“I’d also like to thank my producer Kent Wells, all the wonderful artists, musicians, and engineers who brought their talents to this project.”
The album is Dolly’s first to enter the Top 10 on the Billboard chart since her 2014 album, ‘Blue Smoke’, and only her third overall, after 1987’s ‘Trio’ with Linda Ronstadt and Emmylou Harris.
According to a press release, ‘Rockstar’ gave Dolly her biggest debut week to date and biggest sales week in 30 years.
In a review of the album, RETROPOP called ‘Rockstar’ “a great romp of an album and a testament to the force of nature that is Dolly Parton”.
