Dolly Parton and Michael Bublé get animated in their new music video.
The pair transform into cartoon characters in the visual for their holiday duet, Cuddle Up, Cozy Down Christmas, which finds the Canadian crooner and the country-music icon in front of a blazing fire at Holly Dolly’s Ski Resort.
As a snowstorm blows outside, the pair sing their duet, with Bublé’s character providing accompaniment at the grand piano.
In an accompanying video, Dolly, who fronts Netflix movie Christmas on the Square, explains the origin of her new song.
“I wrote Cuddle Up, Cozy Down — people might find this surprising, they might not even like it, they might not find it it sexy, but it’s the truth — I wrote this while I was cuddling up and cozying down with one of my little nieces and nephews, thinking about mothers and their babies,” she said.
“It’s really about being there with your little baby,” the star, who has released a total three Christmas albums throughout her career, continued.
“And later, I thought, well, I can make this into a more romantic thing, so I did… and I cuddled up with Michael Bublé on this one! He did a great job. He made it sexy.”
After its release, her latest LP A Holly Dolly Christmas, which also contains collaborations with Miley Cyrus and Willie Nelson, among others, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Holiday Albums chart in the US. It also landed in the UK Top 40.
Dolly’s other festive offerings include 1984’s Once Upon a Christmas with Kenny Rogers, featuring original classics like With Bells On, Christmas Without You and Hard Candy Christmas, and Home for Christmas in 1990, containing a selection of cover versions.
