Atomic Kitten have hit out at the music industry for being ageist and wish they’d been more assertive throughout the years.
The trio, which recently reformed following a brief 2021 reunion, are “sick” of record labels snubbing female artists who are above the age of 25.
Natasha Gay said: “Do you know what I am sick of? In the industry, it’s like it’s not below 25, like you’ve had your day.
“No, b**ches, we are back.”
She admitted: “When we were younger, sometimes it was like, ‘Jump’ and we’d say, ‘How high?’, and we ended up doing a lot of s*** that we didn’t want to do.
“There are a lot of things that I look back and think, I wish I’d have stood my ground more.”
Bandmate Liz McClarnon went on to admit: “I was – and even until recently – afraid of a lot of stuff, my anxiety was through the roof.”
The group – also starring Jenny Frost – were speaking in a new clip of them reviewing the first season of ’90s girl group comedy, ‘Girls5eva’
The show is available on Peacock UK, Sky and NOW.
Late last year, the Whole Again hitmakers announced plans to return to the stage with a spot supporting boyband Blue on their ‘Heart & Soul Tour’.
They said: “Last summer we got to experience a glimpse of our previous lives and we loved it,” said Natasha Hamilton, Liz McClarnon and Jenny Frost.
“15 years later with no rehearsals and nervous as ever we took to the stage in the middle of Trafalgar Square where the atmosphere in London was alive, as England came together to support the final of Euro2020.
“It was enough to light the fire between us and we can’t wait to see what new memories we can make in 2022.”
