Mariah Carey appears to have been removed from JAY-Z’s Roc Nation roster after four years working with the mogul.
The diva has been represented by the organisation, headed by her Heartbreaker collaborator, since 2017, but Mariah is no longer listed on the Roc Nation website as one of Roc Nation’s clients.
It comes after sources told The Sun: “Mariah and Jay had an explosive meeting which did not go well at all.
“She has made it clear she wants nothing more to do with him and has called it quits with Roc Nation. She will formally depart in the next few weeks.
“It is a shame because they had done some great work in the last few years,” they add. “But this meeting couldn’t have gone much worse.
“Mariah has been talking to other managers and thinks she has found someone who she feels has full belief in her as she takes her next steps.”
However, Mariah has shut down speculation surrounding the apparent disagreement, insisting: “The only ‘explosive’ situation I’d ever ‘get into’ with Hov is a creative tangent, such as our #1 song ‘Heartbreaker’!!
“To the people who make up these lies I say ‘Poof! —Vamoose, sonofa*****’!
The news comes after Mariah recently spoke out about her 2018 album ‘Caution’, calling the project “rushed”.
“When I did ‘Caution’, I love some of the songs from ‘Caution’, but I don’t think I was at the place vocally where I could be now. Also, it was rushed,” she told the Questlove Supreme podcast.
“I didn’t have the time I would normally take, and I really wish I did have that time to do a few more records on that album to just, fully have that expression.”
However, according to new reports, Mariah, who has reteamed with iconic production duo Jam & Lewis on new track Somewhat Loved, is working on “a heavily R&B-influenced album” and another world tour.
Speaking about the new music, she recently told fans during an online discussion: “Oh my gosh, you guys! I’m like obsessed with what I’m doing right now. But I can’t reveal it yet. It’s exciting!
“I’m really with this music. I haven’t made [music in this way] in years. During the pandemic, I was able to rest my voice and get it back to where it needs to be. So here we are!”
