Melanie C is optimistic Victoria Beckham will return to the Spice Girls.

Victoria, an original member of the ’90s group, sat out of the girls’ 2019 Spice World Tour – but, according to Melanie, the singer-turned-designer is “coming around” to the idea of a Spice Girls comeback.

She tells Essentials Radio on Apple Music: “Yeah, it’s hard. We found it hard last year and we did really miss her. But you’re right, we’re still really close. And it’s so important to us that she is happy with everything.

“She was very involved in the creative and everything that we were doing in the show. And I think she really found it difficult. That first night, when the pictures were beamed all over the world, it was hard for her. And we’re hoping it was hard enough to bring her back.

“It’s so hard, and I feel for her. And the thing is now, we have come to this point in our lives where we do, we really respect each other,” adds the star. “And we never want anyone to do anything they don’t feel comfortable doing.

“But yeah, we might have to get her hypnotized. I have to say, I feel like she’s coming around. So we’ll keep working on her. But just between you and me.”

Melanie has long remained optimistic that Victoria will return to the group, while VB herself gave fans a throwback to her Spice Girls days via her recent beauty drop.

“I was given the name Posh in 1996 over lunch with Peter Loraine of Top of The Pops Magazine and the rest of the Spice Girls,” explained Victoria. “I can’t say it would have been my first choice, but ultimately grew into it on my own terms.

“I was young and shy, and being Posh helped me find my style and confidence, and my voice. After the Spice Girls I distanced myself from the nickname because it had unwavering momentum of its own.

Victoria continues: “This week I celebrate Posh with the launch of Posh lipstick. It is deeply personal – lipstick has always given me confidence when I needed it and extra spice when I already had it.”

She concluded: “Posh is back.”

Since coming off tour with bandmates Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B, Melanie released her eighth, self-titled album in October – featuring new single Into You – earning the star her highest-charting LP in the UK since 2003’s Reason.

In our review of Melanie C, Retro Pop called the album “without a doubt her most confident, polished, and exciting release to date”.
