The series finale of ‘The Masked Singer UK’ saw three chart-topping pop stars from the nineties and noughties unmasked as Fawn, Phoenix and Rhino.
As the fourth season of the hit ITV show came to a close, the three characters battled it out to be crowned the latest winner of the contest after weeks of attempting to disguise their voices from the show’s judges and viewers at home.
It was Rhino who came out on top, with Busted singer Charlie Simpson unveiled as the champion following a string of show-stopping performances, including a duet with The Masked Singer alumnus Gabrielle.
“I was terrified the entire time, because the thing I was most scared of was remembering lyrics,” he told judges Rita Ora, Jonathan Ross, Mo Gilligan, Davina McCall and Lee Mack upon winning.
“I often forget lyrics to my own songs on stage.”
Earlier in the show, All Saints’ Natalie Appleton was revealed to be Fawn following a mesmerising duet with Aled Jones. Davina said: “You had us all absolutely flummoxed. That is quite something, so well done!”
“Thank you very much,” smiled Natalie. “I loved thrilling you guys, it was such a buzz! I’ve had the best time ever, it’s been amazing. I do recommend it.”
Meanwhile, Kaiser Chiefs star Ricky Wilson was runner-up after singing with previous contestant Denise Van Outen, despite some of the panel being convinced he was Michael Bublé.
“The swing album will be available by Christmas,” Ricky joked, while adding of the competition itself: “You really wanna win it!”
