The BBC is once again teaming up with TaP Music to find the UK’s entrant for the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest.

Following the success of this year’s entrant Sam Ryder, who finished in second place with his hit single Space Man, the management firm will once again scout talent for the next edition of the show.

“For the 2023 Contest the BBC and BBC Studios will once again be collaborating with TaP Music, the global management and music publishing company behind some of the world’s most successful pop artists, such as Lana del Rey, Ellie Goulding, London Grammar, Dermot Kennedy and Mabel in order to choose a song and act that will represent the United Kingdom,” said the BBC.

Sam gave the United Kingdom its best Eurovision result since 1998 and the song has gone on to peak at No. 2 in the UK – the best placement since Gina G’s Ooh Aah… Just a Little Bit in 1996. 

The United Kingdom will host the 2023 Eurovision Song Contest on behalf of Ukraine, who won this year with Kalush Orchestra’s Stefania. 

Seven cities are in contention to host – Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, Manchester, Newcastle and Sheffield – with a final decision to be made by the BBC in conjunction with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) this autumn.

Meanwhile, Sam is set to release his debut album ‘There’s Nothing But Space, Man’ later this year.

The LP takes its title from his hit 2022 Eurovision entry Space Man, with Sam admitting representing the UK led to a year “filled with so many blessings, opportunities and dreams coming to fruition”.

“To create a body of work throughout this time representing aspects of our journey feels like the highest honour and a beautiful way to redirect the flow of energy back to the people who are making this whirlwind possible – you,” he said in a statement.

“Biggest thank yous, and I hope you enjoy it!”
