Steps would love to work with the newly-reformed ABBA on new music.
The Swedish group thrilled fans with the announcement of ‘Voyage’, their first album in 40 years, earlier this month – not least of all Steps, who would love to collaborate on a future project.
Speaking to The Sun, singer Ian ‘H’ Watkins beamed: “I want a project where Steps join forces with ABBA…
“We could be a super-group called STABBA,” he joked.
It wouldn’t be the first time the Take Me For a Ride singers crossed-paths with the music legends; they’ve covered ABBA hits including Lay All Your Love on Me and Dancing Queen in the past, and released versions of I Know Him so Well and Story of a Heart, written by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.
ABBA’s new music is accompanied by the ‘ABBA Voyage’ live show, which is set to debut in London in spring 2022.
Claire Richards added: “For ABBA, the avatars are amazing because they haven’t performed together for 40 years, but they are bringing the experience to new fans.
“Maybe we’ll get the holograms out when we’re 70, though there will be new technology by then…
“We’ll probably be cryogenically frozen or something,” she laughed.
Steps are currently promoting their new album ‘What The Future Holds Pt. 2’, also featuring Heartbreak in this City (feat Michelle Visage) and The Slightest Touch.
In a review of the album, Retro Pop said ‘What The Future Holds Pt. 2’ is packed with “wall-to-wall pop precision” and “paves the way for the band’s 25th anniversary celebrations in 2022”.
