Sophie Ellis-Bextor offers up a behind the scenes look at the making of her latest album ‘HANA’ in a new mini-documentary.
Available via the Murder On The Dancefloor singer’s YouTube channel, the 15-minute video sees Sophie working in the studio alongside collaborator Ed Harcourt, husband Richard Jones and a team of players.
“Here’s filming that Richard Jones made while we were making the album, Hana,” she penned of the clip. “It’s a film about how we made the album, behind the scenes, all the malarkey.
“It’s also about flying because Richard loves flying and has a pilot’s licence and he wants you all to know that.”

‘HANA’ – featuring the singles Breaking The Circle and Lost In The Sunshine – enters the charts at No. 8, becoming her first Top 10 studio record since 2014’s ‘Wanderlust’.
Reacting to the news over the summer, the Get Over You singer said: “I can’t actually believe it. It’s my fourth UK Top 10 album. I’m blown away. I had no expectations with this one except that I knew it was the album I needed to make, so it’s felt completely special that it’s been so warmly received.”
Sophie’s first and third albums, ‘Read My Lips’ (2002) and ‘Trip The Light Fantastic’ (2007), both charted in the Top 10, as did her 2020 greatest hits LP, ‘Songs From The Kitchen Disco’.
In a review of the album, RETROPOP called ‘HANA’ “an album that encompasses themes of reflections and new beginnings across 12 original songs that drive Sophie’s sound forward”.
