Sinéad O’Connor died from chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and asthma, her death certificate confirms.
The Nothing Compares 2 U hitmaker star was also suffering from a respiratory tract infection prior to her passing on July 26, 2023.
Her death was formally registered on Wednesday (July 24) in Lambeth, London, with her certificate stating her cause of death as “exacerbation of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and bronchial asthma together with low grade lower respiratory tract infection,” according to The Irish Independent.
The death was certified by Julian Morris, senior coroner for Inner South London. In January, the coroner announced that O’Connor died of natural causes.
A brief statement from Southwark Coroner’s Court in London said: “This is to confirm that Ms O’Connor died of natural causes. The coroner has therefore ceased their involvement in her death.”
