Days after it was reported that she’s set to launch her first album in seven years, Swedish pop innovator Robyn is back with her pulsating new single Dopamine.
Expected to serve as the lead single from her forthcoming ninth studio LP, the track has been almost a decade in the making, according to the hitmaker, who opened up on the song in a press release.
“Everyone has a phone where they see their heart rate, and we’re learning how to decode our emotions through the hormones and chemical substances in our bodies,” she said.
“It’s almost like we don’t even accept that we’re human anymore, like we’re trying to shoot ourselves out of it and explain every single thing – which I think is great, but that’s also why the world is shit, this idea that you can figure out and win life or something.”
The Missing U singer added: “The doubleness of Dopamine is having an emotion that is super real, super strong, intense, enjoyable or painful, and at the same time knowing that this is just a biological process in my body – and then not to choose religion or science.
“To just accept that they’re there together and to be able to go in between.”

According to insiders, a full album, apparently titled ‘Sexistential’, is due in 2026.
It marks the With Every Heartbeat singer’s ninth studio set and serves as the follow-up to her 2018 LP, which featured the singles Missing U, Ever Again and Baby Forgive Me.
Sources tell The Sun: “Robyn has spent years working on this music and has been really inspired by loads of up-and-coming artists. She has worked with some very cool people and all the stops are being pulled out for this to be her biggest record in decades.”
They go on to reveal the project blends the artist’s signature emotive synth-pop style with contemporary influences, driven by her recent collaborations with stars including Charli XCX and Gracie Abrams.
Further details have yet to be revealed.
