Robbie Williams is planning to release two studio albums over the next 12 months.
The superstar celebrated 25 years of solo success in 2022 with his orchestral greatest hits collection ‘XXV’ and, according to the musician, there’s plenty of material yet to come.
“I have got two albums coming out pretty soon,” he said on the ‘Robbie Williams Rewind‘ podcast. “I have a vault of new Lufthaus stuff. I could do three albums of it as Robbie Williams but new stuff gets written and you get excited about that. I want to put an album out before the summer.”
When it comes to future releases, Robbie is keen to record a follow-up to his 2006 LP ‘Rudebox’, which featured contributions from Pet Shop Boys and production by Mark Ronson.
On his intentions for Lufthaus, he added: “I am not sure if there will be a Lufthaus album. We (Lufthaus) did Ibiza and everybody goes mad and the DJ said, ‘They love us mate.’ We are trying to figure out what live entity Lufthaus is.”
In addition to pushing his side project further, Robbie admitted he’d also prefer to play more of his lesser-known songs on stage.
“I want to do more ‘Under the Radar’ gigs as there is Robbie the public entity but there are the guys at the front who want more,” he confessed. “But there are 17,000 others who know Feel and She’s The One.
“It is fucking annoying I can’t do Andy Warhol or Just Want People To Like Me. That is what I would rather be doing but I am there to provide a service.”
Robbie recently performed two special shows at London’s Royal Albert Hall, featuring a mixture of swing classics and some of his biggest hits, with the concerts filmed for a major scene in the upcoming film, ‘Better Man’.
They’ll feature in the movie of his life during a scene portraying Robbie’s triumphant ‘Live At The Albert’ show in 2001.
Written, produced and directed by Michael Gracey, the project will give fans an introspective look into the experiences that shaped Robbie Williams both on and off stage.
Filming commenced this year in Melbourne with Robbie travelling Down Under recently to shoot scenes and now the cameras are heading to the UK.
This summer, he will play the first-ever large-scale live music event at the Royal Estate of Sandringham on August 26, 2023, with a second date added due to phenomenal demand on August 27.
They will be his only outdoor headline concerts in the UK for 2023.
Tickets are on general sale now.
