Rina Sawayama has released Catch Me In The Air as the latest single from her forthcoming album ‘Hold The Girl’.
Co-written with Oscar Scheller, Gracey, Clarence Clarity and Stuart Price, the soaring track pays tribute to the pop star’s mother, who raised her as a single parent.
“I really wanted to write about this weird relationship with single parents,” she says in a press release. “You do catch each other in the air.”
“I wanted the whole song to sound like it was on an Irish coastline, like a Corrs video,” Rina adds.
“We put in a key change to go into the chorus, at the end of the pre-chorus to make it lift and soar like a bird.”
Alongside the single, the star has released a visualiser, featuring fan-shot footage of her performing live.
The singer will release the follow-up to 2019’s ‘SAWAYAMA’ on September 2, with its lead single This Hell out now.
‘Hold The Girl’ is available to pre-order now.
