Ahead of the 40th anniversary of his chart-topping debut single and album next year, Rick Astley is celebrating another milestone – his 60th birthday – with the release of new music.
The pop legend, who marked his 50th birthday 10 years ago by returning to the top of the UK Albums Chart with his first No. 1 LP in almost 30 years, celebrated his big day this time around by dropping his latest single ‘Waiting On You’.
On the track, which was produced and almost entirely solely performed by Astley at his studio, The Spud Farm, he says: “The beauty of having a guitar older than I am is that it makes me play, write and feel everything differently.
“This track has a feeling of a decade long ago, lyrically and style wise,” he adds. “It’s been great to jump into new music but with an old heart at the centre of it.”
The ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’ hitmaker released his ninth and most-recent album, ‘Are We There Yet?’, in 2023, and will embark on ‘The Reflection Tour’ throughout April, with soul star Gabrielle as support.
