P!nk will be honoured with the Icon Award at the Billboard Music Awards later this month.
The singer, who is set to perform at the show, with be 10th star to receive the honour, after icons including Mariah Carey, Cher, Janet Jackson, and Prince.
“As a little girl, I always dreamed about being a singer and sharing my love of music with the world. Years later, to receive the Billboard Music Awards Icon Award is hard to fathom,” Pink said in a statement.
“I feel so honored to join the ranks of music idols like Cher, Garth Brooks, Janet Jackson and Stevie Wonder. It’s a true ‘pinch me’ moment and I feel humbled and blessed.”
The Icon Award “recognizes outstanding artists who have achieved excellence on the Billboard charts and have made an indelible mark on music itself,” according to the press release.
Throughout her career, beginning 2000, P!nk has acquired 33 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, including 15 Top 10 songs and four No. 1 hits, including Lady Marmalade in 2001, So What in 2008, Raise Your Glass in 2010 and Just Give Me a Reason in 2013.
Meanwhile, she’s also scored eight Top 10 albums, with the star’s three most recent releases – ‘The Truth About Love’, ‘Beautiful Trauma’ and ‘Hurts 2B Human’ – topping the US Billboard 200.
P!nk was also honoured as Billboard’s Woman of the Year in 2013.
The star is due to return this month a brand new live album to coincide with the release of her new Amazon Prime Video movie ‘All I Know So Far’.
Along with classic hits featured in the concert film, two studio tracks are also included on the record; recent single Cover Me In Sunshine, which features her daughter Willow Sage Hart, plus new cut All I Know So Far, which will be available on May 7.
The 2021 Billboard Music Awards will broadcast live from Los Angeles’ Microsoft Theater in the US on May 23 at 5 pm PT/ 8 pm ET on NBC.
