Olly Murs heats up the dance floor and gets the glitter ball spinning as he returns with his feelgood seventh album, ‘Marry Me’.

Olly Murs was ‘Starstruck’ meeting TV co-star Shania Twain: ‘She was one of the first women I had a proper crush on!’

Reintroducing the pop star on his first record with new label EMI, the 11-track collection is inspired by pending nuptials with longtime girlfriend Chloe Tank and sees Olly push himself both vocally and as a songwriter.

Written and recorded solely with David Stewart and Jessica Agombar, it makes for the ‘X Factor’ runner-up’s most cohesive LP to date. “I’ve never done this before,” beams the hitmaker. “It felt weird writing with the same people constantly. But I loved the routine, and the consistency.

“We just kept writing good songs. They had a great vibe and an enthusiasm, and a hunger.”

Opening with lead single Die of a Broken Heart, the track introduces a new sound for the cheeky chappie from Essex, who ditches the doo-wop of earlier releases and infuses funk elements with on-trend disco beats and electronic motifs for a fresh direction.

If the first single serves as a bridge between old and new, follow-up track I Found Her dives full force into a pure-pop landscape, with heavy beats underpinning lush synths and a powerhouse vocal from the musician. It’s one of a number of massive choruses on the record, along with the groovy Dancing on Cars, brass-backed title song Marry Me, and Olly’s finest disco moment, Don’t Stop Dancing.

The uptempo Go Ghost is another early highlight that’s sure to go down a storm during his upcoming tour, while I Hate You When You’re Drunk – with it’s acoustic guitar and country edge – is another single-worthy cut.

Closer Let Me Just Say is a rare tender moment on the album, offering a poignant lyric dedicated to his wife-to-be and encompassing the message behind his latest offering.

Over a decade into his career, Olly has cemented his position not only as one of the most successful acts to emerge from a UK TV talent franchise in the 21st century, but also a top-tier musician whose career is only getting stronger as time passes.

With ‘Marry Me’, he proves himself a musical force and cements his status as a pop star of global proportions – it’s that good!

‘Marry Me’ is available now.
