Jake Shears was joined by Pet Shop Boys legend Neil Tennant for a performance of the duo’s classic hit Rent when he stopped by BBC Radio 2’s Piano Room this week.
The star delivered a three-song performance, also including his new solo track Too Much Music and Scissor Sisters’ hit song Mary, before being joined by Neil for the special duet.
No stranger to a duet, Jake has worked with industry legends such as Elton John throughout his career, with whom he’s worked on the new ‘Tammy Faye’ musical.
“It was one of the coolest things I’ve ever gotten to do in my life,” Jake says. “It was a musical that took us ten years to write. And it’s one of the greatest joys. We had so much fun and it’s a show that I’m incredibly proud of.
“I want to be working on musicals all my life. I’ve got another score that I’ve been working on. I’m always talking and getting ideas about new ones.”
This summer, he’s set to release his second solo album ‘Last Man Dancing’, but working on his own project doesn’t mean Jake isn’t keen to reunite with his Scissor Sisters bandmates in the future.
“I hope so. I would love that. You never know. We never officially broke up or anything, we’re just chilling. But yeah, that would be awesome! I’m all for it,” he adds.
