The long-awaited Michael Jackson biopic – starring the late King Of Pop’s nephew, Jaafar Jackson – will premiere on April 18, 2025.
The film will see the son of the Billie Jean hitmaker’s brother, Jermaine Jackson, appear as his uncle, with the 27-year-old previously admitting he’s “humbled and honoured to bring my Uncle Michael’s story to life”.
“To all the fans all over the world, I’ll see you soon,” he wrote on Instagram when the movie was first announced.
With work underway on the project, director Antoine Fuqua has spoken about the similarities between Jaafar and the Thriller star.
“It’s uncanny how much he’s like Michael… sounds like him, dances like him, sings,” he told Entertainment Weekly.
The film is being made in conjunction with the singer’s estate and will address all areas of Michael’s life, according to Lionsgate, which is making the project.
“Michael will bring audiences a riveting and honest portrayal of the brilliant yet complicated man who became the King of Pop,” reads the official synopsis.
“The film presents his triumphs and tragedies on an epic, cinematic scale – from his human side and personal struggles to his undeniable creative genius, exemplified by his most iconic performances.”
Graham King is producing along with John Branca and John McClain, who are the co-executors of the Michael Jackson estate. John Logan wrote the script.
