Madonna has joined an initiative to protect prison inmates across America from the coronavirus.
The Hung Up hitmaker’s Ray of Light Foundation has partnered with the Prison Reform Alliance to send 100,000 masks to facilities across the US.
The donation includes 50,000 for the Cook County Jail and the Illinois Department of Corrections, where more than 600 people have been infected and seven people have died.
Another 20,000 masks are going to the Louisiana Department of Corrections, while the remaining 30,000 masks will be distributed between Vacaville Prison in California, FCI Ray Brook in New York, and Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department in Massachusetts, according to TMZ.
Madonna has been keeping fans online amused during the lockdown, with the Quarantine Diaries series on Instagram.
She also posted an acoustic cover of an Elvis Presley classic and, to celebrate the recent 30th anniversary of her mega-hit Vogue, shared an unusual rendition of the tune from her bathroom.
