Kylie Minogue was due to team up with Jake Shears on her new album DISCO – but Covid-19 got in the way.
The star, who recently debuted her hit Say Something live on America’s Tonight Show, was booked to travel to Los Angeles in March to work with the Scissor Sisters star, but her flight was cancelled ahead of the planned writing session.
She told Andy Cohen Live SiriusXM: “We were supposed to write together for this album. I had a writing trip to LA planned in March, so of course that was cancelled.
“Otherwise there may have been another Jake Shears collab with me, but unfortunately that didn’t happen,” she continued. “He is just solid gold… I think he’s a fantastic writer, performer, and he’s got that singular quality that we miss.
Kylie added: “I for one wouldn’t be mad at a Scissor Sisters reunion.”
A couple of collaborations between the duo have already been released: Jake co-wrote and co-produced her 2004 hit I Believe In You, and also co-wrote Too Much for her 2010 LP, Aphrodite.
They’re also notably good friends, with Kylie appearing alongside Scissor Sisters during their 2010 Glastonbury set and Jake appearing as a guest mentor during her stint on The Voice UK in 2014.
The Spinning Around star previously teased she and Jake have recorded an album’s worth of unreleased material together, but insisted: “He knows that he better not upload them or he’ll be in trouble
“His finger has hovered above ‘Enter’ a few times. He’s such a good friend of mine.”
