Songwriter Guy Chambers has revealed details about his unreleased Britney Spears track Sacred.
The musician confirmed the existence of the song, which has become something of a legend in online communities devoted to the pop icon, revealing it dates back to 2006.
He said: “I wrote a song with Britney that’s never come out called Sacred. In the many Britney fan communities it’s their holy grail, but they’ve never heard it, they’ve only heard about it.”
Guy added that, at the time, Britney was looking to break away from the “cleaner side” of her image, but that’s what ultimately saw the track shelved.
He told Diary: “She said ‘f**k’ in it. This was in about 2006, her imperial phase, when she was huge.
“She was trying to rebel from the cleaner side of Britney, I suppose, and I should have said no, but I didn’t, I let her do what she wanted.”
Although he was recently blocked from releasing the track by Brityney’s lawyers, Guy is certain it’ll make it out one day.
“I actually asked her lawyer recently if they could put it out, but they said no,” he teased. “One day it will come out I’m sure, but it won’t be tomorrow.”
Last month, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Brenda Penny terminated the conservatorship that has hung over the pop star, restricting the control of her finances and wellbeing.
Britney could be free to make her own life decisions again early in the new year, once administrative and legal matters have been tied up.
