Groove Armada turned down the chance to collaborate with Elton John.
The DJ pair were offered the opportunity to team up with the music legend for an all-star duet, but ultimately blacked out of the opportunity.
“Our biggest regret is turning Elton down. He was a big fan of our album ‘Vertigo’, and he called up when we were in the studio asking us if we’d like to work on some tracks together – and we turned him down,” says Andy Cato while promoting the pair’s ‘GA25’ box set (via The Sun).
“To be fair, we were in the middle of recording an album at the time.”
Elton, who recently scored hit collaborations with Dua Lipa and Britney Spears, is currently in the midst of his ‘Farewell Yellow Brick Road’ tour, which resumes at the 3Arena in Dublin, Ireland on March 28, following shows in North America, Australia and New Zealand.
The hitmaker’s final US concert performance is set to air on Disney+, with the streamer set to broadcast the Hold Me Closer star’s third consecutive show at Los Angeles’ Dodger Stadium on November 20, rounding out the North American leg.
In addition to the concert movie, titled ‘Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium’, his other two shows at Dodger Stadium will also be filmed for inclusion in the upcoming documentary, ‘Goodbye Yellow Brick Road: The Final Elton John Performances And the Years That Made His Legend’.
Directed by R.J. Cutler and David Furnish, the film will also feature archival concert footage, material from Elton’s “hand-written journals”, and along with home footage from his personal collection.
‘Elton John Live: Farewell from Dodger Stadium’ will debut November 20 on Disney+.
