Gary Barlow will return to Take That in 2022.
The frontman has been taking a break from the group to work on his solo albums ‘Music Played by Humans’ and ‘The Dream of Christmas’ over the past year.
However, he’ll release the latter on November 26 and, in the new year, Gary will reunite with Mark Owen and Howard Donald to work on new tracks.
He tells Music Week: “We haven’t started anything yet, but we will in the next year,” he shared. “It will be fresh, it will be new and it will be special – it has to be.”
“It’s a different head I put on to be in Take That. It’s my No1 thing. It’s the thing that I value the most, so whenever we do anything it should be really well thought through.
“I’d love to just sit in New York for two months and write with Mark and Howard. We write good songs together and that is always fun.
“This next one big move for us. We love to push forward and this is a big opportunity to do that.”
Opening up on the future of the group, Gary insisted “collaborations and features” are the way forward.
“People have hit records from collaborations, from features,” he explained. “There are definitely hit records for us still to be had if we want to go down that route, and that is a choice.”
‘The Dream of Christmas’ is available to pre-order on CD, vinyl and cassette.
