Gary Barlow is returning to screens with his new music and entertainment show ‘I’m With The Band’.
The programme, set to air on BBC One, is co-produced by the Take That frontman and Penny Lane Entertainment, and sees Gary bring together a supergroup of artists and musicians to perform classic songs from past and present.
The band, led by the Pray star on keys and vocals, comprises:
- Jamie Cullum (piano and vocals)
- James Bay (guitar and vocals)
- Mica Paris (vocals)
- Guy Chambers (keyboards and musical director)
- Tom Fletcher (guitar and vocals)
- Danya Fisher (bass)
- Donavan Hepburn (drums)
Gary also welcomes special guests to the show as Anne-Marie, with DJ and Producer Nathan Dawe and rapper MoStack and Craig David drop by and collaborate with the band, talk about their careers and musical heroes, and perform new versions of classic tracks.
The singer and musician says: “A key reason for me doing this show for BBC One was that I just wanted to get in a room with a load of people I love and respect and play music.
“We’re aiming to give artists a platform and place where they can perform and have fun. It’s simply a musical treat for everyone who loves watching the best musicians performing great songs from any genre and any decade.”
“I’m delighted that Gary Barlow has brought such a wonderful collection of talented artists together for this BBC One show and that the BBC can continue to bring musical performances such as this to audiences, at a time when live shows are on hold,” adds Owen Courtney, Commissioning Executive at BBC Music TV.
“I know it will be a very special evening.”
An air date for the show has yet to be confirmed.
Gary, who released his fifth solo album ‘Music Played by Humans‘ last year, recently took to social media to tease his latest venture, admitting he’s “already scared of the outcome”.
Alongside a clip of himself working on new music, he penned: “I’m working on an extremely in-depth and complicated project right now. It’s pushed me to places I’d forgotten existed.
“Even though I’m only about half way through this project I’m already scared of the outcome.
“There was a moment I even thought of jumping ship and ditching the idea completely,” continued Gary. “All those doubts were of course in my head because now I’m at a point where I’m starting to feel proud of myself. I’m learning new skills.
“Activating the brain to memorise and problem solve. It’s been tough but b**ody hell it’s exciting.”
He concluded: “I’m hoping to get this piece on a stage in 2022.”
