Former Duran Duran star Andy Taylor is back with his new solo track Man’s A Wolf To Man.
Arriving days before the group is to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame on November 5, the singer and guitarist says of the single: “A musician’s life is about bringing people together – A politician’s life is to divide us.
“The song divides itself between hope & fear, the hope that we can live peacefully as one shaded by the fear that we’re rolling in a very destructive direction.”
He adds: “I wrote this song five years ago – I wanted to find a way to describe what I was witnessing, the rapid polarisation of society, into tribal war, which we’ve accepted as the new norm, to a point that when one encounters another as ‘not one of their own kind’, it’s become acceptable to say and do terrible things to each other, purely because you believe or have been told that the other person ‘is not of your own kind’.
“That Is When – A Man Is A Wolf To Man.”
The group leads the Hall of Fame Class of 2022 and will be inducted into the institution after coming out on top of the fan vote.
Speaking following the announcement of the band’s latest accolade, frontman Simon confirmed the current band – also starring Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Roger Taylor – had reached out to Andy and fellow guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, both of whom will be inducted, about joining forces for the ceremony.
“I’ve been in contact with both Andy and Warren,” he told Rolling Stone. “They are both extremely excited and very, very grateful and honoured in the same way that Nick, Roger, John, and I are as well.
“We’re talking about how we’re going to present ourselves on the night.”
On the subject of the group’s performance, he added: “I’ve already had a definite yes from Andy. He’s definitely up for it. I’m pretty sure Warren will want to do it.
“We’ve always maintained a decent relationship with these guys. We didn’t have so-called ‘acrimonious splits’. It was gentlemanly and it was understood. And pretty much mutual.”
