Eurythmics have celebrated 40 years since the release of their second studio album ‘Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This)’.
The duo – starring Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart – released their breakthrough sophomore effort on January 4, 1983, shortly after which its title song became a huge worldwide hit.
Reflecting on that period in time, vocalist Annie took to Instagram to share clips from the music video and penned: “It’s almost impossible to believe that ‘Sweet Dreams are Made of This’ was released forty years ago!
“It has continued to travel the world and the seven seas ever since, which is a wonderful and miraculous story all to itself!”
She added: “Songs are like ships… They have their own particular voyages and destinations.. Once they’ve been launched, there’s no turning back. You just have to follow the journey.”
Meanwhile, Dave also shared the album artwork on his own page.
Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) topped the Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at No. 2 in the UK. The album peaked in the US Top 20 and UK Top 5.
