Dave Stewart made a surprise appearance on this week’s instalment of ‘American Idol’ when he joined his daughter Kaya on guitar during her audition.
The Eurythmics star stunned judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Richie and Katy Perry when he entered the audition room to accompany the young singer on a rendition of her original song This Tattoo.
Prior to the performance, Lionel pointed out that he had been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2022 alongside Eurythmics, with Katy asking Kaya why she chose ‘Idol’ “with all the different opportunities and connections” her dad could offer.
Lionel went on to add that it was a great feeling to know that “[‘American Idol’] is now a creative destination for artists”.
Following their performance, Kaya received acclaim from the judges and was sent through to the next round of the show’s 21st season.
