Donna Summer’s 1980 album The Wanderer is getting another shot at life in the spotlight later this year with a brand new 40th anniversary reissue on the way.
The new edition of the album, due for release on October 16th, features the original tracklist, which has been remastered, along with remixes of lead single The Wanderer and album track Looking Up by Figo Sound. Also included are new dance versions of Nightlife and Grand Illusions by Le Flex.
The record, which had the unenviable task of following the star’s sensational Bad Girls album and the double-disc follow-up, On the Radio: Greatest Hits Volumes I & II, failed to reach the heights of its predecessors, stalling at 13 in the US and missing the UK Top 40.
While lead single The Wanderer was a US Top 3 hit, subsequent releases Cold Love and Who Do You Think You’re Foolin‘ failed to make a significant dent on the charts.
The CD reissue comes packaged in an A5 media-book with liner notes by writer Christian John Wikane, who also provided commentary on the recent live CD/DVD and vinyl release, Donna Summer: A Hot Summer Night. It features brand new interviews with Pete Bellotte, Harold Faltermeyer, Bruce Sudano, Tom Kelly, Figo Sound & Le Flex, as well as archive interviews with Carmen Grillo and the Queen of Disco herself.
The tracklist is as follows:
1. The Wanderer [Figo Sound Radio Mix]
