Darin is back and better than ever with a bold and bright new sound as he prepares to take on the world.
The Kurdish-Swedish hitmaker shot to fame when he finished as runner-up on the inaugural season of ‘Idol’ aged 16, propelling him into the spotlight and launching a chart-topping career.
Now, he’s embarking on a new chapter, bringing a fresh sound, personality and outlook on life to his latest music – marking the first UK release of his impressive career.
Speaking in the May 2022 edition of Retro Pop, the star – who came out as gay in 2020 – opens up on how embracing his sexuality influences his new music.
“Right now, I feel more free,” he says. “A lot has happened personally and artistically that I haven’t even shown to the world yet. I’m hoping my new music can somehow also help others to see a light at the end of the tunnel. A disco light.”
The singer, who recently released the singles Can’t Stay Away and Holding Me More, adds: “This is the real me right now. I’ve noticed that I always change, because I love to experiment with things and evolve as a person and as an artist.
“A lot has happened in my life. These last two years… I think something good came out of something bad – with the pandemic – because I had a lot of time to think about things and that made me open up to this new style that I have.
“For me, it’s been a process, but what I’m doing now feels very natural. It very much represents the person I am today. The way I express myself is more colourful and more happy… It’s like a mix of different styles; it’s soul, disco, pop, all housed in one.”
