Coldplay will stop making records after their 12th album, according to frontman Chris Martin.
Ahead of the release of their ninth album ‘Music of the Spheres‘ on Friday, the singer told Absolute Radio he, Jonny Buckland, Guy Berryman and Will Champion only plan to make three more LPs.
“I think that in a few albums time we will finish making albums,” he said. “This is not a joke, this is true, I think after 12 that will be the end of our catalogue.”
However, Chris is hopeful the group can continue as a live act as she wants to carry on playing to sell-out crowds into his 70s.
“I think we will always want to play live together,” he continued. “So, I think in the way that the Stones do, it will be so cool if we can still be touring in our late 70s.
“That will be wonderful, if anybody wants to come.”
To coincide with the release of the new album, Coldplay have announced an immersive “audio-visual experience” with Amazon Music, with locations in London, New York City, Tokyo, and Berlin.
“We’re excited to partner with Amazon Music to bring Music of the Spheres to life,” said the band. “The Atmospheres will take fans on a trip through The Spheres and into the heart of the album.”
‘Music of the Spheres’ is available to pre-order on CD and limited vinyl now.
