Charli XCX has spoken out after her song Party 4 U went viral online.
The track originated during sessions for her 2017 mixtape, ‘Pop 2’, but was shelved before finally being released on her 2020 LP, ‘How I’m Feeling Now’.
Having quickly become a fan-favourite, the song has become a staple of the Apple singer’s live shows and, following her recent global success with her sixth album, ‘BRAT’, the track has found a new audience and gone viral with fans on social media.
On the back of a new trend on TikTok, which sees fans lip-sync to the track, replicating a moment on ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race’ where a contestant delivered a lip-synched performance of Paula Abdul’s Cold Hearted, Party 4 U has entered the US Viral Spotify 100 chart.
So far, it has reached No. 80, becoming the highest new entry.
In response, Charli took to X and said: “It’s p crazy that this song is suddenly getting love in this kinda way. I know this song means so much to so many angels. she’s a cutie <3.”
