Britney Spears has announced she’s stepping back from social media hours after a Los Angeles judge denied her petition to have dad Jamie removed as her conservator.
The singer is in the midst of legal proceedings and, while seeking an end to the 13-year-long situation, had pushed to have her father dropped from his role immediately.
However, on Monday, August 9 Judge Brenda Penny denied Britney’s lawyer’s request “without prejudice,” reported The Sun, while also refusing to move up the September 29 hearing to this month.
The Work B**ch star’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart previously insisted that, “Every day that passes is another day of avoidable harm and prejudice to Ms. Spears and the Estate”
Following the decision, Britney took to Instagram to announce she would be “post[ing] a little less” on the platform due to horrible and mean lies in the media.
“In a system where I’ve felt completely hopeless for so long, at least I do have a platform to share,” she penned.
“As Selena Gomez says it best – The world can be a nasty place … I know it … you know it … kill them with kindness.”
Britney added: “Unfortunately the news has been pretty nasty saying horrible and mean lies about me so I’m gonna post a little less from now on…
“God bless you beautiful people.”
Admitting she’s been left “traumatised” and “depressed”, Britney pleaded with a Los Angeles judge to call time on the conservatorship back in June and shared her wish to cut ties with her father and open legal proceedings against her family.
Following the hearing, fans supporting the #FreeBritney movement and stars took to social media to lend their support to the hitmaker.
