ABBA’s 1974 Eurovision winning hit Waterloo has been voted the UK’s favourite ESC entry of all time.

While the 2020 contest, which was due to be held in the Netherlands on Saturday, was cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic, UK viewers voted for their all-time favourite entry on BBC One’s Eurovision: Come Together show.

After a recap show, which saw 19 specially chosen performances re-screened for the British public, the results were announced.

ABBA’s victory is a turnaround from the initial show – after the UK famously didn’t hand any points to the entry back in the 70s.

Four UK entries were included in the voting on Saturday’s show – Bucks Fizz’s Making Your Mind Up, Brotherhood Of Man’s Save Your Kisses for Me, Katrina & the Waves’ Love Shine A Light, and Gina G’s Ooh…Aah…Just A Little Bit.

Individual placements for all tracks in the voting were not announced in the show.

Following the Come Together episode, Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light was broadcast from Rotterdam, and included pre-recorded excerpts of all 41 2020 entries.

Later in the evening, all the acts performed a special rendition of the UK’s 1997 Eurovision winning song, Love Shine A Light.
