Alexis Strum is back with her epic new single, If I’m You Think I’m Too Much (You Should Go Find Less).
The track is the second to be lifted from the singer-songwriter’s forthcoming third studio album, following last year’s comeback single, Karma, and speaking to RETROPOP, she described the song as being “quite c**ty”.
“I’m really fascinated by language; I studied it at university and I’m really trying to tap into expressions that people use in everyday life,” she shared. “On this album, I started out every single song with the title and wrote around it, and with this song I wanted it to be quite c**ty.
“I’m becoming much more c**ty as I evolve and I was in such an obnoxious, frisky mood in the studio the day that song came about.”
Elaborating on the direct inspiration for the track, she added: “My mum’s pretty unwell with Alzheimer’s and this guy I’d been having a situationship with turned up at my house and was like: ‘So, how’s your mum?’ I’m like: ‘I don’t want to talk about that. You’re not here to talk to me. Shut up!’
“That was around the time I wrote the song and it’s just really how I was feeling at that moment. I didn’t want human interaction, I just wanted to be on my own.”
