Katy Perry is gearing up to release her sixth studio album and has changed her profile image on social media ahead of the announcement.
Since bowing out of her role as a judge on ‘American Idol’ after seven seasons, the Teenage Dream singer has updated her profile pictures to a futuristic silver logo on a deep red background, showing her initials inside a pair of parentheses.
On Facebook and X, the new logo was accompanied by a red cover banner filled with bubbles. Katy has yet to comment on the change.
It was previously revealed that the US star has teamed up with Congolese-Canadian singer Lu Kala on one of her “biggest songs that has yet to come out”.
Speaking during a promo event for the ABC show earlier this year, Katy appeared with Lu and said: “She helped me write one of my biggest songs that has yet to come out. But it’s coming out.”
Writing in the caption to an Instagram clip, her co-writer added: “I was not expecting any of this, wow. Thank you @katyperry for letting me be the tiniest part of what you have coming. I can’t wait for the world to hear it.”
The new record is the California Gurls star’s first LP since 2020’s ‘Smile’ – featuring the singles Never Really Over and Daisies – and in a new interview, she revealed the record is inspired by her feeling “really happy and whole”.
She shared: “I just have yet to make a record from a place of feeling really happy and whole and full of love.
“Sometimes artists are like, ‘Oh, that’s boring, you want to make music from kind of like a tougher place,’ but actually it’s very bright and joyful, like pure joy and fun and playful and celebratory and a party.”
Insiders recently revealed Katy – who wrapped her ‘Play’ Las Vegas residency earlier this year – is planning to hit the road alongside the new album release.
“Katy has been working on her most personal album ever for much of the past two years,” sources shared. “She has been doing it on her own terms and it is quite different from anything she has released before.
“But after so long spent on the West Coast of the US, she feels ready to tour again. The demand is there because she has so many hits, so taking her show on the road is bound to be a big draw.
“The hope is that she can head out towards the end of 2024, but it is still being worked out.”
