Sophie Ellis-Bextor will perform her iconic hit single Murder On The Dancefloor during the 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards.
Following its appearance in ‘Saltburn’ – written, directed and produced by Emerald Fennell – the 2001 track returned to the charts for the first time in 22 years, re-peaking at No. 2.
The single, which originally featured on Sophie’s debut solo album, ‘Read My Lips’ (2001), has also proven successful globally, entering the US Billboard Hot 100 and becoming a viral sensation on TikTok.
Now, she’ll perform the track at Southbank Centre’s Royal Festival Hall on February 18, as David Tennant hosts the UK’s biggest night in film. Other performers will be announced in due course.
The 2024 EE BAFTA Film Awards will broadcast on BBC One and iPlayer.
In response to its viral success, Sophie has announced the reissue Murder On The Dancefloor on CD single and vinyl – the latter of which marks its debut on the format.
