Elton John has joined the select group of performers to have won an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony.
The Tiny Dancer singer picked up the Outstanding Variety Special for ‘Elton John Live: Farewell From Dodger Stadium’ during Monday (January 15) night’s Emmys ceremony, officially welcoming him into the prestigious club.
It made him the 19th person to achieve EGOT status and in a statement, the musician shared his excitement at the feat.
“I am incredibly humbled to be joining the unbelievably talented group of EGOT winners tonight,” he beamed. “The journey to this moment has been filled with passion, dedication, and the unwavering support of my fans all around the world.
“Tonight is a testament to the power of the arts and the joy that it brings to all our lives. Thank you to everyone who has supported me throughout my career, I am incredibly grateful.”
Elton – who recently completed work on his first album in three years – was unable to attend the ceremony in Los Angeles due to a recent knee operation.
