Oasis fans are thrilled by Manchester City’s Champions League win following Liam Gallagher’s vow to reunite the group if they come out on top.
The team won their first European title on Saturday, June 10 after defeating Inter Milan in Istanbul, following recent victories in the Premier League and FA Cup.
Liam had previously tweeted that he would make amends with brother Noel for a group reunion if their beloved team triumphed – a promise fans are holding him to.
“If Man City wins the Champions League i call my brother and i bring back the fuckin band together LG x,” he tweeted.
When another user asked him about a potential reunion last month, he added: “I’m ready to go.”
Following Saturday’s game, fans took to social media to remind him of his words, with one writing: “Ok @liamgallagher have you made the call already?”
“Hi @liamgallagher my team @ManCity have made my dreams come true tonight….. now please can you?,” penned another, while a third added: “Well done Man City… But Liam Gallagher now ring Noel Gallagher and get this reunion back on Oasis.”
It comes after Noel recently confirmed the group’s debut album, ‘Definitely Maybe’, would be reissued for its 30th anniversary next year but dismissed talk of a reunion tour.
He told Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera: “In the Sony archives we’ve found tapes dating to those sessions.”
“We thought they were lost, but they were mislabelled,” he added. “They are wonderful versions of those songs, some acoustic versions.”
However, he insisted that fans won’t be hearing live versions of the new tracks anytime soon, adding: “There won’t be a tour. We won’t come back to play them together.”
