Waterboys have released their new single Glastonbury Fayre ahead of the group’s 12th performance at the festival.
Ahead of their latest set on June 25, the band have shared their love letter to the Worthy Farm gathering.
Co-written by band leader Mike Scott and multi-instrumentalist Brother Paul, it documents their first ever performance in 1984 and every visit since in a series of funny and revealing verses.
Namecheked on the track are Radiohead, Billy Bragg, Courtney Barnett and Glastonbury Tor.
Mike comments: “This is our tribute to the fabbest fest of all, when the nation comes together in all its true wild weirdness and shakes out the blues.
“A hymn of gratitude to the mighty Glastonbury Festival for all it’s given us over the last fifty years.”
The song arrives ahead of a packed summer of Waterboys festival appearances, as well as a reissue of their tenth studio album ‘An Appointment With Mr Yeats’, out now.
