Duran Duran have shared a new anime themed video for their latest single More Joy.
The track, a collaboration with Japanese rock group CHAI, is the second to be lifted from the band’s forthcoming 15th album ‘Future Past’.
In the new clip, a heroic stranger and a handsome dragon embark on an underground quest in Tokyo, while both groups also feature during an animated performance scene.
According to keyboard player Nick Rhodes, the song was initially born out of a jam session between themselves, Blur’s Graham Coxon and producer Erol Alkan.
“It was such an unusual piece, we weren’t quite sure if it would fit in at first,” he said. “It reminded me of one of those retro Japanese video games, which I always found quite uplifting.
“We came up with the chant ‘more joy’ early on, and that became the key to the rest of the track.”
‘Future Past’ features 12 new tracks, including lead single Invisible, and appearances from the likes of Blur’s Graham Coxon and long-time David Bowie pianist Mike Garson, and guest vocals from Lykke Li.
Three bonus songs are included with the deluxe edition of the record, which is due October 22 and available to pre-order now on various formats.
