Having carved a name for himself as one of British pop’s hottest rising independent artists, Tom Aspaul is launching into a new trilogy of albums with ‘MOUSTACHE (Part I)’.
Due July 24 via 1609 Records / Downtown Artist & Label Services, the project blends house, Italo disco, club-pop and euphoric electropop, as the singer-songwriter “pursues fleeting romances, searches for new beginnings and holds onto the possibility of love, even when it feels just out of reach”, according to a press release.
On the project, Aspaul adds: “During a trip to Southern Italy in September, I compiled a playlist of sunny, summery, Italo disco bops to help make the long car journeys through the beautiful countryside go faster.
“I came home totally inspired to make care-free, sexy music, with no agenda, no overly conceptual ideas. But when I look back at the songs now, I realise many of them are about wanting something that’s just out of reach.
“I’ve loved every minute of creating ‘MOUSTACHE’, flexing my muscles as a producer, as well as working with talented new collaborators.”
Clocking in at eight tracks, ‘MOUSTACHE (Part I)’ – the follow-up to Aspaul’s third album, 2025’s ‘Cabin Fever‘ – includes ‘You Can Try Me’ and ‘New Position’, both of which are out now.
The release coincides with a summer of live shows, including an album launch event in Manchester, dates supporting Becky Hill, and a special headline show at London’s Royal Vauxhall Tavern celebrating his 40th birthday.
‘Moustache (Part I) is out July 24 and available to pre-order/save here. Listen to ‘You Can Try Me’ and ‘New Position’ below.
