The Weeknd has delayed the release of his new album, ‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’, due to the ongoing wildfires in Los Angeles.
A series of devastating blazes have affected the city and surrounding regions in the past week, resulting in at least 25 deaths and causing over 180,000 residents to be evacuated from the area.
In a post on Instagram, the Blinding Lights singer confirmed his sixth album will now be released on January 31, with his show at the Rose Bowl stadium in Pasadena, California on 21 January also scrapped.
“Out of respect and concern for the people of Los Angeles County, the Rose Bowl Show has been cancelled and the album date has been postponed to 01.31.25,” he wrote, adding: “With love, Abel.”
Tickets purchased via Ticketmaster will be refunded automatically.
The Take My Breath hitmaker continued: “The city has always been a profound source of inspiration for me, and my thoughts are with everyone impacted during this difficult time.
“My focus remains on supporting the recovery of these communities and aiding its incredible people as they rebuild.”
‘Hurry Up Tomorrow’ is the third instalment of the Canadian star’s current album trilogy, which includes 2020’s ‘After Hours’ and 2022’s ‘Dawn FM’.
