The Lottery Winners have beaten competition from Nines and Jessie Ware to land this week’s UK No. 1 album.
Hailing from Leigh, Manchester, the group’s third album, ‘Anxiety Replacement Therapy’, held its own throughout the week against Jessie’s ‘That! Feels Good!’, with the pair at No. 1 and 2, respectively, in Monday’s chart update.
However, rapper Nines soon climbed into the Top 3 with ‘Crop Circle 2’ and edged out Jessie to bag this week’s second place, bumping her shimmering disco collection down to No. 3.
Speaking in RETROPOP’s May 2023 issue, frontman Thom Rylance shared his dreams of the group’s latest LP hitting No. 1 and admitted he’s had a picture of the Official Charts trophy as his phone background for months.
“My friends The Reytons recently got a No. 1 and when we went on tour with them they all had this on the background of their phones,” he revealed. “They said, ‘We look at this every day to remind us why we’re doing it,’ and I thought, ‘Genius!’”
With a UK tour booked through May, the four-piece have plenty to keep them busy, but that isn’t stopping Thom from dreaming up another moment from his bucket list.
“We’ve got some very big, scary venues pencilled in for the future. By the end of this year, we’ll hopefully be playing pretty ridiculous venues,” he shared. “There’s a stadium in Leigh Sports Village and I want to play it; that would be the moment I’d feel like I’ve made it if I play my hometown stadium.
“The only people that have done it are Elton John and Lionel Richie – so I want to be next!”
